AHEC 10th Street Pedestrian Corridor

Denver, CO

Client: Auraria Higher Education Center (AHEC)
Architect: RNL Design
Contract Type: Design-Bid-Build
Completion: October 2015

A main thoroughfare through campus is the 10th Street corridor and was in desperate need of repair and upgrade for ADA compliance. This phased replacement of the corridor created an ADA compliant walkway with concrete and asphalt paving as well as porous pavers to create a more pedestrian friendly experience and help with drainage issues. Replacement of existing campus chilled water lines and the installation of an underground detention system were required as part of the underground work to allow the project to move forward. Work was phased to allow for constant student access to the corridor and each building it serves.
